Liubov Yakovlieva was born in Kyiv, Ukraine. In 2014 she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy in Ukraine. During the same year she received the IANUS II scholarship for Master’s degree studies at the University of Groningen, Netherlands. Her master project was dedicated to computational engineering of protein enantioselectivity, and performed in the group of D.B. Janssen (GBB Institute). Afterwards, she did an internship in the group of M.T.C Walvoort where she studied novel glycosyltransferases. She joined the group of Dr. Marthe Walvoort as a Ph.D. student in January 2017. Her research focuses on studying bacterial protein glycosylation as a novel antivirulent target.
